Castellabate is emotion
Castellabate is an ancient medieval village in the province of Salerno in the area between the Cilento Park and the Vallo del Diano, about 300 meters above sea level.
Castellabate stands on a hill and is completely embraced by its castle, the Castrum Abbatis, the Abbot’s Castle, from which it takes the name of Castellabate. The abbot who founded this village was Costabile Gentilcore, and it was 1123 when he started building it, and subsequently became the patron saint of the municipality.
